La Mansion del Fundador, Arequipa

(4.2/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Admire the architecture of La Mansion del Fundador, a colonial estate with well-preserved buildings and restored interiors. Originally a residence of Arequipa's founder, Garci Manuel de Carbajal, the property was acquired by a congregation of Jesuits, who built many of the structures seen today, including terraces and chapels. In the late 18th century, the site became the home of Don Juan Crisostomo de Goyoneche y Aguerreverre, a Spanish nobleman and trader. During this period, the site gained many of the domestic features seen today. With artifacts arranged in situ across the complex's many rooms, the site offers a perspective on how the upper echelons of society lived during the colonial era. Make La Mansion del Fundador a centerpiece of your Arequipa vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Arequipa trip itinerary maker.

  • A great place where it is known to the person who I helped a lot to the city of arequipa, as I contribute to the history of the people, if there is for the entry fee but it is worth the penalty, the place is a place cosy, charming and very careful. Great site to make photos, selfies and tomas panoramic. Also you will see that the founder has a great Spanish history that attaching it to Arequipa culture. It is a magical place because inside there is a chapel where breathes great peace, has a small waterfall, animals and a grand entrance.
