Destroyed by earthquakes and reconstructed repeatedly over a period of more than 400 years, the cathedral's museum finally opened in 2011. Take a tour of the building to see its large church organ and many religious partings and sculptures, and be sure to head up to the top floor to gain sweeping views of the surrounding city. Where to stay in Arequipa

Most accommodations in Arequipa cluster on the east side of the Chili River. The historical center offers the best selection of options, with plenty of budget hostels and mid-range hotels scattered throughout its streets. For something quieter, look north to the neighborhoods of Zemanat and San Jacinto. If you're looking for a suburban experience, stay in the western neighborhood of Yanahuara.

  • Maybe I'm from Italy and a little spoiled but this Cathedral is not the best. Some interesting pieces but the tour is a tiny bit of a ripoff and they are really trying to milk every little bit of it
  • 15 soles for the tour even through the sign says 10.
  • The best of Arequipa is here. Beautiful harmony: trees, peoples, pigeons, constructions, everything.
  • what a place! a beautiful monument! and Arequipa city was one of our nicest suprises there, for it's nice atmosphere, location, views, architectural monuments. A must see!
  • Really pretty cathedral - especially the exterior.
