Panteon Nacional de los Heroes, Asuncion

(3.9/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Panteon Nacional de los Heroes keeps the memories of the country's involvement in many wars alive with a memorial to fallen soldiers. Construction of the landmark started in 1864 under leadership of Francisco Solano Lopez, who ironically led the country into a disastrous war shortly thereafter. Lopez’s body is held in the memorial along with his fellow soldiers and two unknown Paraguay soldiers; it was finally completed in 1936. Notice the plaques laid by former foes, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Uruguay, which show that old disputes are forgiven. Take a moment to absorb the history and feel the somber mood of the memorial. • Of visit to this place tourist of Asunción, located in a park with a parking in the basement. I thought it was very small as to what you can imagine in the photos.

  • The Pantheon was the second attraction closed for renovations (Museum of clay was the first). We're sad because the external architecture is beautiful and, of course, is one of the most beautiful spots of the city.

  • Traditional tourist spot of Asunción, passing on Saturdays in the morning and watch the band and changing of the guard.
