Panteon Nacional de los Heroes, Asuncion

3.8
Panteon Nacional de los Heroes keeps the memories of the country's involvement in many wars alive with a memorial to fallen soldiers. Construction of the landmark started in 1864 under leadership of Francisco Solano Lopez, who ironically led the country into a disastrous war shortly thereafter. Lopez’s body is held in the memorial along with his fellow soldiers and two unknown Paraguay soldiers; it was finally completed in 1936. Notice the plaques laid by former foes, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Uruguay, which show that old disputes are forgiven. Take a moment to absorb the history and feel the somber mood of the memorial. Located in the downtown in one of the four squares that mark the Centre of the cities of Asuncion. Near other historic sites. It is a tour that may be walking.

It is in renovation, but it's still impressive, its night lighting shows it very well so you can see now, I hope that when this repair is an attraction.

A building with history, both in its architecture and its content. A design to admire, and for lovers of history, the opportunity to see the coffins of people who were important participants in the Paraguay, but a little smaller than I expected.

The place was closed. What little I saw, you can see the detail of the facade. A shame not to know!

It is a temple, where lie the remains of Paraguayans heroes, of independence, the war of Paraguay (Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay against Paraguay) and the war of Chaco (Paraguay and Bolivia) the interesting thing is the architecture of the building, is located in front of one of the most popular bars in Asunción, on his forehead is the guard of the presidential escort with typical uniforms of the time (similar to the Switzerland of the Vatican guard) with those who do not can joke, nor trying to make them laugh. Between silent, do not use the camera's flash, and remember that it is a grave of the national heroes.
