Architectural Building
Explore the city's history in a restored colonial building at Casa Viola. Part of a complex displaying historical architecture from multiple periods, the house represents a well-preserved example of colonial design from 1750-1758, with a tiled gable roof and wooden beams and columns. Step inside to visit the family-friendly museum tracing both the city's and the building's history in interesting displays of archeological artifacts including doors, pottery, and a concrete lion (one of the highlights). You can also browse documents, maps, paintings, and everyday objects. The surrounding complex offers other points of architectural interest, as well as a cafe-bar. • This House is connected to other houses that, together, comprise a complex of spaces that tell the history of Paraguay. You can see different exhibitions-some other non-permanent that help us to better understand this country. I remember a painting that caught a lot of attention: it depicts a fair, in the center of Asuncion shortly after the end of the war. In it one can see only women because men Paraguayans had been killed in the war.
