Panama Canal, Panama City

Landmark Tourist Spot
A marvel of modern engineering, Panama Canal stretches for 77 km (48 mi) and links the Pacific with the Atlantic Ocean via the Caribbean Sea. France initiated the construction in 1888, and the United States completed it in 1914; today, it still ranks as one of the largest and most challenging projects of its kind. Over 14,000 vessels pass through the canal's three gravity-powered locks each year, avoiding the much longer route around the tip of South America. Be sure to admire the canal from both land and water--many local tour operators offer partial-transit cruises with complimentary hotel pickup and drop-off. • If you got to Panama City and don't see the Canal, you have missed the whole reason for the city's being. Touring the museum and watching the ships go through is incredible. To understand the engineer...  more »
  • If you visit Panama for a day or a week, going to the Canal is a priority. Be sure to find out the schedule of the ships passing so you don't have to wait too long. Usually early in the morning or eve...  more »
  • So it's the Panama Canal. I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. It was good to say I've done, definitely recommend it just for that. The history and exhibits are interesting, but definitel...  more »

  • People are friendly, and make you feel welcome. This is ideal when you travel for a living, it provides a sense of "home" when you have no place to call home. My only complaint that restaurants close early around the hotel, and I am use to have late dinners.
  • The hotel is good. I went to Panama to do a training. I asked at reception but they did not know where to turn. I was suggested to take a taxi, but it was possible to walk.
  • I have been booking rooms at this hotel for the last 8 years. The hotel works for me because I mainly work near Boca. I have noticed the hotel quality overall has declined over time. The people at the front desk are not efficient nor friendly. I have asked for technical help at my room as the fire alarm was making noice all night and had to call again at least twice until someone helped me. The breakfast service is average, with no friendly staff. The dinner service takes forever as there are only two people dealing with all tables, with apparently is not enough. My review only purpose is to help them improve their service to the customer.
  • Great view and location, staff were a bit overwhelmed though when busy and check in took a long time
  • Outstanding service.I just came back from an amazing vacation in Panama - and a big part of the reason it was amazing was because I stayed at the Holiday Inn Panama Canal . From the minute we arrived, everyone was extremely friendly. everything is perfect.Location is amazing - we are walking distance from everything we needed like restaurants and shopping. Staff are on hand to help with chairs, drinks, lunch, or whatever else you might need. The pool is also awesome. I can't forget to mention here enjoying the panoramic view of The Panama Canal from room.I have already recommended this hotel to my friends, and I am looking forward to my next stay.
