Flea Market
For fish so fresh it’s nearly flapping amid the buzzing atmosphere of a city’s fresh fish market, head to Mercado de Mariscos. Tuna, snapper, lobster, octopus--everything on offer is yours to take home for the right price, or have cooked to perfection in the authentic fish restaurant located upstairs. The fresh ceviche on sale from many of the vendors is a tasty and very popular delicacy; grab one to go and take a walk around the busting market, which overlooks the harbor. • Got out of the cab to check out this highly recommended market and was literally surrounded by menu-bearing, pushy people. I get it, they want my business, but let me scope out the place first. So hap...  more »
  • When in Panama, do as the Panamanians do! This fish market has an authentic vibe to it and the fish is as fresh as it gets. The waiters are somewhat annoying as they are all trying to lure you to thei...  more »
  • This is a good sized fish market with a pretty incredible selection at great prices. You must grab a few types of ceviche before leaving. Very refreshing in the Panama heat.  more »

  • Many different types of seafood to purchase. You can get anything you want here to cook yourself or have cooked to order by any of the many eateries. Ceviches are tasty, but be aware of aggressive vendors and varying prices. Shop around for the best deals and cleanest restaurants. Don't be bullied or pressured. Take your time and enjoy.
  • A very interesting experience. You get a chance to see the seafood going from boat to store (you also get to smell it) in an environment very different from what most of us are used to. The best part was the restaurants that surround the market. Believe it or not the food was actually pretty good. A worthwhile stop if you have some time to kill in PC.;
  • Far from the best seafood I have had, but certainly with a visit. I recommend the almejas (clams) in garlic sauce, the fried calamari and the fried corvina (sea bass). I also want to put in a good word for Orlando, our server from Colombia who was terrific.
  • Very good venue to grab some food before heading into the old city. Delicious choices, including ceviche. The pricing is fairly good and it was a good refreshing experience trying out fish, shrimp, squid and other delicious seafood options. Try to make sure you have cash on you and definitely take in the view of the city from the corner most restaurant inside the mercado.
  • Rigth now there are reco reconstruction works, so there is a temporally seafood market at Felipe Neri. Two blocks away.
