Gatun Lake, Panama City

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
Charter a boat and observe huge cargo ships heading for the Panama Canal at Gatun Lake, a massive man-made lake, and the largest of its kind when it was constructed in the early 20th century. You’ll get to meet lots of confident capuchins and tamarins, who are accustomed to humans and can be fed by hand. Keep an eye out for elusive crocodiles, who lurk in the lake's waters. Consider bringing a picnic along, as sometimes the food served on the boat isn’t enough to get you though the day. Put Gatun Lake and other Panama City attractions into our Panama City itinerary maker, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Good ride can see the Gatun lock opening and closing due to the passage of ships. This is one of the locks of Panama.

  • This tour involved a boat ride on the lake which is part of the canal system. The tour guide stopped at various locations where we saw monkeys, crocodiles and toucans.
  • Navigate through the locks of the Panama Canal, which lead to the Gatun Lake then traverse its placid waters and admire the scenery, is really a very clean living experience. On the ship you will be giving details of its construction and the relevance that has for the channel and the island of scientists (that's another conversation), all elements that should be known in-situ.
