Casco Viejo, Panama City

Categories: Historic Walking Areas, Neighborhoods, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 6,000+ reviews on the web
Feel the history as you walk through the streets of Casco Viejo, the capital city's oldest neighborhood. Built in 1673 to replace the original city (which was completely destroyed because of an invasion by the pirate Henry Morgan), the World Heritage-protected neighborhood displays some of the best-preserved examples of colonial architecture in the city. An abundance of churches and plazas give character to the area, while a good selection of cafes and restaurants make for pleasant places to stop and grab a bite to eat. To fully appreciate the history of the area, take a walking tour. • Very interesting site, but need to have best attractions and an upgrade. Public cleaning needs to go through, because it has many restaurants and many visits by tourists, however very badly insulated.
