Casco Viejo, Panama City
(4.2/5 based on 6,500+ reviews on the web)
Feel the history as you walk through the streets of Casco Viejo, the capital city's oldest neighborhood. Built in 1673 to replace the original city (which was completely destroyed because of an invasion by the pirate Henry Morgan), the World Heritage-protected neighborhood displays some of the best-preserved examples of colonial architecture in the city. An abundance of churches and plazas give character to the area, while a good selection of cafes and restaurants make for pleasant places to stop and grab a bite to eat. To fully appreciate the history of the area, take a walking tour. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Casco Viejo and many more Panama City attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Panama City vacation trip planner.

  • A nice bustling old city. This place is a newish old city (fire) but retains its old world glory. Try to check out bay front area and adjacent pedestrian mall.
  • Very nice scenery, excellent restaurants, we had one experience with the rain that was spectacular and we loved that it enjoyed it to the fullest. Very nice I recommend it
