Get your bearings and escape the bustle of Panama on top of Ancon Hill. Once used by the U.S. government to survey the Panama Canal, and given back to Panama in 1977, the hill now boasts a lush, protected jungle, home to a diverse range of wildlife and offering spectacular panoramas. Consider packing a picnic and hiking the short way to the top; from there you can survey the city and get a lay of the land. Keep your eyes peeled for sloths and armadillos as you walk. • I climbed the Cerro Ancón in a leisurely morning stroll, where I very enjoyed the hike. Although it was not very easy to find the right entry in the beginning, but you can ask. It's a small narrow road that is gradually kringelt to the top up and offers new perspectives on the city centre, Casco Viejo and parts of the Canal. First, it passes through some very respectable "mansions", which are likely to come from the time, as probably the top US channel manager established their residence. Pretty villas, beautiful gardens and in between tropical secondary forest will please lovers of the atmosphere perfectly. Delivers the views from three vantage points above the reward for the quite bearable effort of the climb. Down then found a simpler, shorter way, hardly found start from the bottom up. -However, this action by a total of four hours including extensive considerations (about one and a half hours of pure runtime) always paid off. But at night you should walk around here better.

  • Amazing Views of Panama City. We took a cab ride to get to the top, It is a 650 foot hill that includes the highest point in all of Panama City. It's history is interesting, as it was controlled by the US as part of the Panama Canal Zone until 1977. Then it was returned to Panama. The views are spectacular. It is a great side trip for an hour or two. Highly recommended.
  • It’s a good hiking spot in the middle of the city with amazing views into the city, the Canal, and with lots of nature and fauna to see
  • Was good place before now has been too much security issues and.have to take a long walk to reach top also the flag area is locked so no use have lost a good touristic place in Panama City
  • Cerro Ancon provides you with a beautiful view of Panama City and the surrounding areas, it also is a very serene and beautiful location as well.
  • Sloths everywhere but go with a guide from lunas castle.
