Ancon Hill, Panama City
Categories: Outdoor Activities
Get your bearings and escape the bustle of Panama on top of Ancon Hill. Once used by the U.S. government to survey the Panama Canal, and given back to Panama in 1977, the hill now boasts a lush, protected jungle, home to a diverse range of wildlife and offering spectacular panoramas. Consider packing a picnic and hiking the short way to the top; from there you can survey the city and get a lay of the land. Keep your eyes peeled for sloths and armadillos as you walk. With our custom trip planner, Panama City attractions like Ancon Hill can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

It is worth to visit Cerro Ancón, the view is spectacular for both the city and Panama Ports. A visit during the morning may be a wiser choice.

Fantastic for photos of the modern skyline in contrast with the old town. a nature reserve so a good chance of seeing poison dart frogs, Haiti, tucans and more.
Great views of city and canal area. A must for anyone visiting Panama city.We saw a tree sloth high up in tree.
Worth the hike for incredible views of Panama City, the Panama Canal (including the nearly-completed expansion), and the chance to talk with locals. One local pointed out tu is a sloth on a branch directly above us, and talked about the history of the city.
Great place to look out over the city. Several spots to take photos of people as they pose in front of the Panama City skyline. Definitely worth the trip up here.
Skip. Views are better midway down the mountain. If walking, be prepared for single lane of road for pedestrians and cars. If driving, can have waits up to 15 mins either way up / down hill.
