#1 of 10 in Things to do in Guna Yala Region
Experience the laid-back lifestyle of San Blas Islands, a small archipelago off the coast of Panama that's self-governed by the indigenous Kuna Yala people. Since a revolution in 1925, the Kuna people that inhabit the islands have autonomy from the mainland. Get away from civilization and spend some time lounging on the palm-covered tropical island that boases tranquil white sand beaches. Swim and snorkel in the warm azure waters, take boat trips to nearby smaller islands, and experience the solitude of island life. Keep in mind that you'll be a guest of the Kuna people, so you'll experience their modest way of life including basic amenities, simple food, and no electricity during the night. • The beaches or rather islands of the archipelago of San Blas are a paradise. hiding in the forest regions of the Indian reservation of Guna Yala, the Atlantic Ocean, that even the very same sea side of the brazilian coast has the best and most beautiful beaches of Panama. Unlike any place you may have known, San Blas is a piece of what you imagine or better than you ever see in the movies Blue Lagoon, Pirates of the Caribbean. Beaches with crystal clear waters, white sand, sea shells larger than your hands together. To give you an idea can go from one island to another just walking the quiet waters with low tides or by boat with a native guide. Own infrastructure of bathrooms, sea views and restaurant tables in some islands laid out under the trees and coconut palms. There is also the possibility to stay overnight in huts. Ideal place for those seeking tranquility, rusticity and untouched nature. To enter the Indian reservation, you must pay a fee, plus the boat service for day trips including lunch per person. Prices vary by season and tourists, who lives and resides in Panama paid half the value. It is recommended to have a high vehicle 4 x 4 but not necessarily high, because the road has many holes from Chepo until recently and it would take a while. Has the option to lease the service of the tour with the transfer of car included, but I think it's unnecessary. Make use of a lot of sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrella, mats, portable refrigerator. For those who usually get sick in boating, if prevent because there are times when the sea beats a little, it's rare but it can have it.

  • It is a paradise that nature has given us. Located in the Indian region of Kuna Yala, two hours from the city, the archipelago of San Blas is an unspoilt site still. Located in the Panamanian Caribbean, is an autonomous community, in fact the natives consider it as country Kuna, since it is administered and preserved by its inhabitants. It offers an extraordinary marine environment. Completely crystalline waters are ideal for snorkeling, diving, fishing, among other marine activities; or, simply, to enjoy the sea, in a tropical atmosphere, where snapped bit the hand of man; Since its inhabitants have been commissioned preserve as well. Some of the Islands have services, such as island needle, the closest to the Mainland, where an eco-lodge meets transportation boat, room, food, etc.; pretty rustic cabins but with the indispensable to spend a few days away from the worldly city environment. If desired, you can opt for a day pass, with option to meals, bath, and transfer. For those who have little time to visit him, there are operators that offer the full from Panama City service, with truck transfer to Pier and then islands of Carti, returning in the afternoon to the city. Actually, San Blas is charming. Worth a visit it and enjoy its beaches of white sand and blue waters, and learn a little of this region, which still retains many of its traditions.
