The Sleeping Indian Girl, El Valle de Anton

4.3
#1 of 7 in Nature in El Valle de Anton
Reward yourself to breathtaking views of pristine surroundings as you climb to the top of The Sleeping Indian Girl. The mountain got its name from its resemblance to a girl lying on her back when looked at from a distance. The “face” and “neck” of the mountain have been carefully grazed, while the “hair” remains forested. The trail to the top is unmarked and steep in some areas, so make sure you bring good protective hiking shoes. Also, bring plenty of water for your hike. If you followed the directions in the village you will find the "entry level" to the hiking trail, the off-road capability required. For non-Panamanian be 3USD on the number of houses that are due / kids from 1USD. Necessarily capture the paltry ticket at the entrance! It is the only clue! At the entrance and last opportunity to visit a toilet! Now way concreted the high, which is later Rocky. Caution when wet it becomes very slippery!' Then comes a large rock with historical inscriptions, which explain the local children against payment. Not a must. Bridges blue on the two. Sometime after 5-10 minutes right take the fork and detach from the watercourse. You comes through between two rocks with painted arrow, you're too far. Back or alternatively with the wood increased levels all the way up and left (the dogs there are not nice!) keep outside the settlement. Then you meet again on the main road. Be aware, are in tropical forest, you can encounter here all possible creatures as significantly less frequented! We had visit by a Tarantula, what prevented the ladies of society from going further. Others thought it was awesome. Shortly before the Summit (of the nose of the Lady) there is cold water or snacks for sale. Then enjoy the magnificent view, in good weather down to the sea. Beware of unsecured steep edge! Risk of falling! Who has more energy, up around the crest walk along (over the mountain breasts of the Lady) and enlarge the round. Else return on the same path. You can also wonderfully swim in a mountain stream! We should not abandon the tour.

It's steep and slippery at times, but worth the trek. We were told this hike would take 3 hours roundtrip, but accomplished it at a medium pace in just over 2 hours. Wear good hiking shoes!  more »
