Isla Grande, Colon
(2.7/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Hop on a boat to get to Isla Grande, an undeveloped, picturesque getaway. With no roads, a population of just over 1,000, and only a few resorts scattered across its shores, the island remains a tranquil sanctuary with a laid-back holiday vibe. Rest on sugar white beaches, lapped by turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling and swimming. If you fancy a hike, head up to the old lighthouse, which sits atop the island’s highest point and promises picture perfect views. The island offers only sparse amenities, so if you’re feeling peckish, head to one of the resorts for a seafood snack or come prepared with your own picnic. • We left Saturday at Panama City 8:30 and around 10:30 were already arriving at the Muelle de la Guaira to embark to isla grande (the time counted with a quick stop in Portobelo Fort quickly to meet). Paid 5usd to leave the car parked in a parking garage closed and the boatman Snake 2, 5usd per adult for each section of the crossing to the island (5 usd round trip). The Hotel Isla Grande offers framework for day-pass. Pay 50 usd for 4 adults which includes table, 4 chairs, beach umbrella, access to baths and showers. The beach of the hotel and closed sides which decreases very many people even in days as well (as this weekend that I went). Even taking styrofoam with some drinks, we use the bar service for drinks (margaritas and caipirinhas very good) and cold beer. To pay by card at the restaurant and open a bar tab to go getting the drinks. The hot sea and no waves, ideal for enjoying all day too. Among the beaches close to Panama to get through the day, definitely isla grande and who has the best structure and quality!

  • A real pleasure, arriving on the island, we had no hotel, we visited two hotels before arriving and to find this hotel. Nice and big clean beach and wild natural white sand. A restaurant and bar will serve you and the boss will take care of you and help you. Make nice ride and even get a massage at the edge of water. Samir

  • We went to a Conference in Panama, is big island 1; 45 City, engages vans or taxis that take you, the price varies from 60 to 90 dollars per person. The crossing to the island in boats sale $5, we went during the day, there is a hotel on the beach that we charge $8 per person, you get chairs, tables, they have a restaurant and bathrooms, one can bring the food and drink. It is divine... Caribbean... highly recommended...
