  • Probably one of the sports, physical and mental challenges the hardest in which I started. Attention to be well prepared. I wasn't very well. Equipped, so I got relatively cold all ascension and even more at the top. Very beautiful panoramic view at the top.

  • We had the pleasure of visiting this park with a guide. Unless you're an experienced hiker, riding part way up the volcano with a guide is the way to go. And go you must!  more »

  • Amazing view, rather Paso Ancho trail than Boquete
  • The hike to the summit is an extremely long out and back hike. 27+ kilometers combined with a significant altitude gain. Went during a cloudy day so I can't really comment on views. The trail itself is really a 4x4 access road to the radio towers on top. Even though it is a road it is still very steep for much of the hike. The best part of the hike was being able to observe the different climates/forest types as altitude increases. Overall it's a challenging but worthwhile hike.
  • The weather is amazing
  • Very steep and rocky. But the view at the top is worth it. Started with the group of 11 from Hostel Mamallena in Boque 11:30p.We each paid 5 dollars for the ride to the base of the volcano and then hiked up.Pace yourself and bring gloves, snacks, layers and a light.Im a slow hiker but we still arrived to the summit early. Its super cold at the top.
  • Vasco Núñez de Balboa was the first European to see the eastern shores of the Pacific Ocean by climbing this Volcano. September 1513
