  • Great hike; if you want to go all the way to the top you should start early (6 km one way, but a constant up, so about 3 hours are being recommended). You can also always start and turn around mid-way...  more »
  • We did the path of return the same day. You are applying for in the record book in case something happens to you and not come back, go looking for you. The ascent is hard, and when it is full of mud. Cross 2 rivers, and one of them covers almost to his knees. Once you arrive you climb the stairs area, the trail is somewhat confusing as there are trees fallen and sometime strips forward by intuition. But the views there are impressive. Reminded me of the movie gorillas in the mist. Posters are wrong since actually no they are 7 ida km and 7 km return but may well be 10 km or more. Several posters saying missing 2 km are seen. It is never the end. We could not see quetzals since it was not age, but could see butterflies of all kinds, some armadillo and several insects. Worth doing the route!

  • I didn't realize how long the hike would feel, as you spend a good 4 miles hiking up hill (mostly at the end) It's a very beautiful trail, however hiking uphill for 2-3 miles at the end was awful.  more »

  • Very nice trail through the middle of the jungle. The path is easy to find but you should be aware that you hike literally inside the jungle and without data service. But there a signs giving you a feeling of distance and that you are walking right. We took the path till the Mirador and then headed back. It took us about 4 hours. The last bit up the Mirador is very tough and you'll need to be fit as it takes you around 45 minutes more or less very steep uphill. I really liked the trail itself, however the view from the Mirador isn't THAT stunning. If you like hiking you should do the trail anyway.
  • One of the most popular Hiking trail in Boquete area, we did it in rain season (AUGUST) and we where just by our own the complete morning. Also we had to plan a scheduled return for avoiding the rain storm and when reaching the Mirador we only where able to see foog. Nevertheless, the trail itself through ghe jungle is espectacular, the last big ramp until the mirador only for sporty people! 40 min up monster steps through the jungle hill! Whe just heard them from the distance but if you are lucky you can see the Howlers and Qutzales here.
  • The trail is moderate with ups and downs. Make it to the meadows and wait for the quetzals to announce themselves. We spotted several (mid April) - both male and females. We also spotted a family of acorn woodpeckers. They are loud and beautiful. Entry to the trail is $5 per adult. Kids go free.
  • Tough but nice.
  • A beautiful trail connecting Boquete to Cerro Punta. The forest changes as you move along the trail, very pretty. There are a few steep ups and downs, but overall it is medium difficulty for the area.
