  • This is a neat and tidy trail running along the side of Vulcan Baru. It is a bit easier to hike when it hasn't rained for at teat 3 days. It is fun to do with or without a guide... although you will p...  more »
  • We entered from the Boquete entrance. The trail is well kept especially from the Boquete side of the volcano. It gets rougher and muddier on the higher Cerro Punta side but that is largely due to the ...  more »
  • The quetzals trail is a very nice although relatively hard ride. Already starting there are a couple of very steep slopes and made note to return. I do not recommend doing it whole, not even to the viewpoint since the views are not excessively nice and will take you about 5-6 hours. My recommendation is to get to the area of howler monkeys or a little more and turn around. We did not see quetzals but told us no was the time. Beware of footwear, there are very slippery and muddy areas

  • The trail is moderate with ups and downs. Make it to the meadows and wait for the quetzals to announce themselves. We spotted several (mid April) - both male and females. We also spotted a family of acorn woodpeckers. They are loud and beautiful. Entry to the trail is $5 per adult. Kids go free.
  • A beautiful trail connecting Boquete to Cerro Punta. The forest changes as you move along the trail, very pretty. There are a few steep ups and downs, but overall it is medium difficulty for the area.
  • Absolutely amazing trail trough the jungle including bridges, crossing a river and hiking up the "Mirador"! U don't need a guide, only if you want to see special birds and other animals. I recommend starting really early from boquete and hiking up to the Mirador. Don't trust the distances on the signs! 😂 We returned from the viewing point to the ranger station in boquete and saved us the long trip in the bus from Cerro punta to David. This version of the hike takes you around 5h. But it's absolutely worth it!!
