Kayangel Island, Koror

4.5
#4 of 7 in Nature in Palau
Island Nature / Park
Slow things down on Kayangel Island, the remote, northernmost state in Palau. With a population under 150, the island remains remarkably untouched; lush vegetation, sandy beaches, and an uncomplicated lifestyle combine to create a paradisiacal atmosphere. Only one shop operates here, along with a single school. Various tour groups run trips to the island; many allow snorkeling in its waters or include fishing trips where you can eat what you catch. Pay attention to weather warnings before going: the island is unprotected from extreme conditions.
