German Channel, Koror Island

Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 35 reviews on the web
Dive beneath the clear blue of German Channel for enviable views of passing manta rays, tropical fish, and schools of sharks. The channel leads incoming and outgoing tides from the inner lagoon on the island, and its mouth contains abundant and diverse marine life. A range of tour groups offer diving opportunities at the mouth, which remains the only place to explore the waters due to fast currents and a shallow bottom elsewhere. The channel gets its name from the German occupation of Palau, which lasted from 1899 to 1914. Arrange to visit German Channel and other attractions in Koror using our Koror tour planner.

  • Despite the artificial origin of the channel, it is one of the most interesting places for diving in Palau. Main interest-high chance to see large manta rays, but there are also large concentrations of jack fishes, small reef sharks, picturesque terrain.
