Darbar of Hazrat Shah Rukn-E-Alam, Multan

4.7
Visit Darbar of Hazrat Shah Rukn-E-Alam to appreciate the architecture and pay your respects to the Sufi saint. See carved red brick ornaments and blue and white mosaic tiles, which altogether create a magnificent exterior. Octagonal in shape, with 4 m (13 ft) thick walls, the interior remains bare, providing a stark contrast with the ornate facade. From the outside, you'll notice that the mausoleum consists of three stories: two octagons topped by a hemispherical dome. You can also see geometric floral designs, as well as calligraphy motifs. • Excellent place to visit. Less commercialised as compared to other Darbars of Multan. Suitable for those looking for mental peace and calmness.
  • Imposing mausoleum of Rukn-e-Alam ( plller of the world ) is icin of Multan. His name was Sheikh Rukn-ud-Din Abul Fath. He was the grandson and successor of Shaikh Baha-Ud-Din Zakria. The tomb is an octagon and as it was built on high ground, its total height is is 150 feet. Its dome is second largest in the world, after Gol Gumbaz of Bijapur, India. The tomb was originally built by Ghias-ud-Din Tughlak for himself during the days of his governorship of Depalpur, but was given by his son, Muhammad bin Tughluq to the descendents of Shah Rukn-e-Alam for his burial in 1330.
