Masjid Wazir Khan (Wazir Khan Mosque), Lahore
(4.7/5 based on 85+ reviews on the web)
Admire walls decorated in intricate floral patterns and beautiful "faience" tile work at Masjid Wazir Khan (Wazir Khan Mosque), a prime example of Mughal architecture. Built in only 7 years between 1634-1635, the mosque displays Koran verses and Persian poetry in bright colors including cobalt, blue, green, and yellow, embellished with glazed tile mosaics and written in elegant calligraphy. Engraved honeycomb patterns on the ceiling and in the minarets resemble the famous Alhambra in Spain. An unusual feature are the minarets which soar into the air 30 m (100 ft) high, the first of their kind for this type of mosque in Lahore. Using our custom trip planner, Lahore attractions like Masjid Wazir Khan (Wazir Khan Mosque) can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • The repair and renovation work has been done in a nice manner. Access still needs a bit of work but what an amazing piece of art and architecture.
  • I sat for an hour just stunned by the beauty of this mosque. Seems it was built in 1634 by Wazir Khan. So lucky to be there at the time for the sunset call for prayer.

  • Mark of Mughal era, built by physician to Mughal court, Ilum-ud-Din Ansari who known as wazir Khan. He later became Subedaar, Viceroy of the Punjab under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. He constructed many monuments. This mosque is raised on Shahi Guzargah. It had replaced Maryam Zamani Mosque for Jumna congregations. It has chaar-soo bazaar, two were used for its entry and two sides were used for shops for calligraphy whose income was used for mosque's maintenance
  • Beautiful Mughal-era architecture, must see if on a tour of historic Lahori buildings. Access for vehicles is a bit difficult through the small streets
  • This mosque itself and the heritage it preserves, are the signs of Mughal Royalty. The streets around the mosque represent the taste of Mughal Royalty in art and culture. You can find the best food points offering native foods. Whenever you visit, make sure you try the Bar BQ around the street.
  • excellent designed muslum archetetral mosque of MUGHALIA TIMES and I have sceen and lived around it with my parents and my nana[ Farooq Ahmed Khans Havali] in 50s and 60s
  • Walls of masjid this mosque speaks there worth! The best art work I have ever seen in lahore!
