Masjid Wazir Khan, Lahore

(4.7/5 based on 95 reviews on the web)
Admire walls decorated in intricate floral patterns and beautiful "faience" tile work at Masjid Wazir Khan, a prime example of Mughal architecture. Built in only 7 years between 1634-1635, the mosque displays Koran verses and Persian poetry in bright colors including cobalt, blue, green, and yellow, embellished with glazed tile mosaics and written in elegant calligraphy. Engraved honeycomb patterns on the ceiling and in the minarets resemble the famous Alhambra in Spain. An unusual feature are the minarets which soar into the air 30 m (100 ft) high, the first of their kind for this type of mosque in Lahore. Using our custom trip planner, Lahore attractions like Masjid Wazir Khan can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • An impressive infrastructure l, but its dilapidated conditions and encroachments all around has reduced it to an unimpressive relic of the past. Now WCA is doing something to improve it, let's see how far they can go.
