Lahore Museum, Lahore

4.1
#1 of 6 in Museums in Punjab Province
With almost 20 galleries, Lahore Museum hosts items ranging from the Stone Age to the 20th century. Look up as you enter the museum to see an incredible mural on the ceilings, before admiring large collections of musical instruments, jewelry, pottery, textiles, armory, and paintings. The most of important artifacts displayed here date back to the Indus Valley civilization, but you'll also be able to appreciate some fascinating Tibetan works. See the museum's most famous attraction, the Fasting Buddha, which dates back to the Gandhara period. Other treasures of the museum include a small library and a collection of Hellenistic and Mughal coins. • Great place to hang out if you like history. The ticket pricing for Pakistani nationals is just 20 rupees. School students can show their school identity card and get free entry. Cameras that are hand held are allowed inside. This is a great place for acquiring knowledge about architecture, archeological, historical and many more literary and cultural things. Well maintained. It was a good experience for me, hope it's great for you.
  • Very Good and historical place to visit. But I suggest that there would be more things regarding our culture , because I have seen a lot of things there which represents indian culture. Its good but why its more than our cultural things. Second, timings are too short to visit.
  • Loved it. Specially Queen Victoria statue. It makes you feel how people use to live in old time.
  • Lahore Museum is located on lower mall, with parking outside museum area. Security arrangements are resulting into cramp entry. Attracts lot of visitors of all ages due to rich historical items and galleries. There is also an other city museum co located with it.
  • It's quiet nice and rustic and shows a great deal of history. The layout is good (however to get tickets you have to get around the building in open air even when it's raining) and looks beautiful from the exteriors but one aspect I would like improved is the lighting. It's somewhat dim. Another aspect would be the clarity and history of each ornament and antique explaining itself, when it was used, who it was used by and where it was found (or its roots are). Other than that, it was mesmerising place and I enjoyed being there!

Where to stay in Lahore

Visitors are met with a great deal of choice when deciding where to stay in Lahore, and not just because of the range of accommodations available. In this regularly congested city, travel can be a real pain, so the advantages and disadvantages of each district need to be weighed against each other. Each area has a mix of standard and luxury hotels, as well as guesthouses with private and shared rooms. The old town in the north has a wealth of architectural highlights to see, but little to do after dark. Further to the south, the Mall Road area has some chain hotels, restaurants, and places to go in the evening, while the areas of Defence and Gulberg have become synonymous with hotels and nightlife options.
