Murree, Islamabad

4.3
#5 of 25 in Outdoors in Pakistan
Appreciate the architecture of the old buildings at Murree, and see all the picturesque landscapes the town provides. Although most of the townspeople follow Islam, an Anglican church dating back to the mid-19th century dominates the town center, a throwback to the days of British rule. The British influence can also be seen in the old houses and buildings, which display distinctly European architecture. Go to the wildlife park to see Asian black bears, camels, chitals, sambars, and many other animals, then relax by the Neelum Valley River and enjoy the natural scenery from the Kashmir viewpoint. To experience some of the best views of the hills, take a chairlift and cable car. Back in town, you can also visit Victorian cemeteries, where the oldest tombstones date back to 1860. Where to stay in Islamabad

Islamabad has plenty of accommodations, particularly hotels and guesthouses, to choose from. Look in Blue Area for the bulk of options. With the streets here so spread-out, wide, tree-lined, and new, the hotels tend to follow suit by being luxurious and spacious, although some exceptions can be found. Taking the form of guesthouses, budget-friendly options in town sit on the side streets, particularly around the College Road and School Road areas.
