  • A must visit place in Islamabad, well maintained and regularly organizing functions and festivals to promote local culture..The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) was established in 1974 with the mandate for research, collection, documentation, communication, preservation and promotion of tangible and in-tangible heritage of the country. Lok Virsa obtained the status of an autonomous organization through Ordinance promulgated by the Government of Pakistan on September 17, 2002. Lok Virsa is governed by a Board of Governors headed by the Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage. Executive Director is the overall in charge of all technical and administrative work of the institute.
  • Its a beautiful and well maintained heritage museum with sculptures, ancient tools, painting collections and other cultural things. Cultures of whole of Pakistan are displayed in a beautiful manner inside the museum and you can learn a lot by walking through the museum. The ticket is very nominal and it takes just around half an hour to take a complete visit of the museum.
  • Relatively larger sized museum nominal entrance fee.. around Rs 50 entrance charges.. and u got to see.. history and culture attire crafts carved utensils music instruments and traditions of our ancesstors and nighbouring countries... are well depicted... must go place

Lok Virsa obtained the status of an autonomous organization through Ordinance promulgated by the Government of Pakistan on September 17, 2002 and subsequently opened its door to the public. This is one of the best heritage museums in Pakistan. You can walk through the entire depiction of the 5 provinces and AJK too. U can also appreciate the culture of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey here; enclosures of which have recently been added in the museum. Lovely family escapade :)
  • This museum is absolutely wonderful. I would suggest everyone to must go once, you people will Love it

Where to stay in Islamabad

Islamabad has plenty of accommodations, particularly hotels and guesthouses, to choose from. Look in Blue Area for the bulk of options. With the streets here so spread-out, wide, tree-lined, and new, the hotels tend to follow suit by being luxurious and spacious, although some exceptions can be found. Taking the form of guesthouses, budget-friendly options in town sit on the side streets, particularly around the College Road and School Road areas.
