  • The path here is worthwhile because of the great views, the colors (in the Abenslicht) and the rest. groups are natural on the go, who want to stay in the few resort and oblgatorische photo stops. But otherwise there is calm and Einamkeit. At the Canyon no more tourist infrastructure - only a shaky fence and over an errant traders with refreshments, etc.

  • ... but do yourself a favor and just to make the trip in a 4WD with good ground clearance, as the asphalt quickly replaced by very steep and more or less maintained gravel roads (read: with large stones). After a piece of dirt road you are rewarded with yet another piece of asphalt, which takes you to a few resorts in ca. 2.000 metres of altitude, where you can spend the night or camp or simply enjoy a cup of coffee before the trip back down. On the way to the last resort you will encounter a shed on the wayside, where local women sell bracelets (1 OMR), keyrings (1/2-1 OMR) and small carpets (15-20 OMR), which is spun or woven from wool. Note you are wandering with good physique and desire for adventure there is a route all the way to the top of Jebel Shams (in ca. 3,000 metres above sea level), but it can reportedly not carried out and registered on the same day.
