Finse, Ulvik Municipality
(4.7/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web)
Get away from the tourist crowds at Finse, a small mountain village popular for hiking or biking. The area offers plenty of outdoor opportunities, such as walks along the lake or the dam surrounded by forests and hills. Winter snows beckon visitors for cross-country skiing, sail skiing, expedition training, and Red Cross training. Film buffs may appreciate the fact that several scenes from "Star Wars Episode V" were once shot outside of the town, and all of the "Ice Planet of Hoth" scenes. Getting here is easy from Finse Station, a stop on the Bergensbanen railway line. • May 1222 meters above sea level and close to the highest point of the Bergen railway between Oslo and Bergen. That was when I visited in August, due to the high altitude and high latitude or still have snow. And only through the Lake and the mountains, a scenic place, so it's time I think.

  • With the headline and a rating that suggests "Superb" one can perhaps wonder-is it good or is it not? Finse is different. Here there is a great chance for the fog, the snow is longer and the cold are firmly in the ... but when the sun shines, there is little that can compare with the Fin. Fog and freezing temperatures be forgotten quickly when you can enjoy the silence, the view of the Jøkulen and tours in the mountains. Not only that, Finse can also offer good food and good drink. Tourist Lodge boasts its own brewery Finse 1223, and Finse 1222 hotel offers accommodation and the atmosphere of a bygone era. Finse can be visited both for hiking and matglede. Pay a visit to Rallarmuseet, cycle along the Rallarvegen or go the trip up to Jøkulen skiing. Finse is suitable for all, but the terrain is hilly and weather changes quickly. We have been there with young children, and there are trips for people of all ages.

  • An amazing weekend with full Board on DNT Finsehytta. Bicycle trip from Finse to Flåm is just amazing and highly recommended. Nice with Flåmsbanen up to Myrdal and line further back to Finse. Mythical stop and surprise during the trip with Flåmsbanen. The food was really on a surprise Finsehytta both with the quality of raw materials preparation and quantity. The breadth and the quality of the selection at the breakfast exceeded many of the better hotels I've been to. Must be experienced.

  • Uniquely placed hotel up in the mountains. Great atmosphere in the hotel and it is nicely run as a sports-hotel with set dinners of high quality. Friendly people. Great views and a great starting point for walks and skiing.
  • Finse 1222 is the midway point in the famous rallarvegen bike path from Haugastøl to Flåm. This is where most people start there bike trip. Has good lodging and good food.
  • Great place for a stop. Friendly staff from all over the world and beautiful scenery. If you don't want to bike or hike probably not the place for you
  • Great bikes and staff.
  • The pure nature!
