Trip Planner: Europe / Norway / Western Norway / Hordaland / Hardanger / Ulvik Municipality / Trails / Finse
Get away from the tourist crowds at Finse, a small mountain village popular for hiking or biking. The area offers plenty of outdoor opportunities, such as walks along the lake or the dam surrounded by forests and hills. Winter snows beckon visitors for cross-country skiing, sail skiing, expedition training, and Red Cross training. Film buffs may appreciate the fact that several scenes from "Star Wars Episode V" were once shot outside of the town, and all of the "Ice Planet of Hoth" scenes. Getting here is easy from Finse Station, a stop on the Bergensbanen railway line. Use our Eidfjord travel itinerary planner to visit Finse on your trip to Eidfjord, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

Uniquely placed hotel up in the mountains. Great atmosphere in the hotel and it is nicely run as a sports-hotel with set dinners of high quality. Friendly people. Great views and a great starting point for walks and skiing.
