  • For those who are interested in military history or history in General, this is a great place. A large collection of 3 floors. Is located in the Archbishop's Palace. Very well structured and visually very good. Now there are better but this is audio/visual capabilities very well presented. I think the exhibits in General and the way it is set in the historical context is catchy. Special emphasis on the army and the National Guard and the trønderske effort of course. Operated by the armed forces and is subject to the armed forces Museum in Oslo. Definitely worth a visit. And it is in addition free entrance.

  • This is NOT the crown jewels, and it is FREE! Loacated just next to the crown jewels, you can find this free gem, stretching over 3 1/2 floors, with army-history stretching back over 1000 years. Worth a visit.

Where to stay in Trondheim

One of Norway’s major cities, Trondheim offers a wide range of accommodations. As with any Norwegian city, it’s easy to find the high-end hotels with big price tags in the city’s historical center. With a student population of roughly 25,000, the town also caters to more budget-conscious travelers with a fair number of options. Look for reasonably priced hostels near the university. If you’re not opposed to roughing it the way Norwegians love to, check out one of the many campsites in the city’s outskirts. You'll still have access to the city thanks to the local buses that run regularly.
