Spread over a vast area, you can dive into the Norwegian society of the past with curiosity and interest. A very nice museum with lots of things to see. Note that most of the items are outdoors, so you'd probably want to go on a day with nice weather. Also many of the objects aren't that well marked themselves, so bringing one of those information booklets is a good idea. You get an awesome view of the city and the surrounding area, but it's a lot of uphill walking to get there if you don't take the bus.
Fine place to take your family to. They have a nice café, and a lot of cool things to watch.
The museum itself was enjoyable with a lot of nice houses to look at, however the cafe inside the museum lacked prices on the majority of food choices; something that resulted in me and my partner spending 120,00kr on a single sandwich (that wasn't even whole!)
Really nice outdoor museum, lots to do for the kids as well
