In the last six years we have had with us grandchildren at the sverresborg twice. Here is the life to learn from for small and large! Even on a Saturday in spring we got exciting guided tour in the old Trondheim, children of 3 and 5 years was fjetra of the visit at the dentist, in hattebutikken. The top was of course the candy store with tastings. A summer Sunday was the kids myself made to players in the guidinga, and got on the way told history in a way they will remember through experiences. This is a mandatory place for grandparents with grandchildren to visit.

So a Museum is always a plunge into the past for us. We like that and even some have visited. Here, we were very disappointed. Because as Museum every day has opened during the holidays, we have chosen a Monday. I don't know whether it would have been better on Sunday. Most of the houses are too. And during our visit, otherwise open houses, such as the shop were closed. It was boring, without life. It ran a few people in old traditional clothing through the grounds, but that did not change the overall impression for us also. The individual houses were sometimes very far apart, and when it came out was to see as far away from, because they were no longer. We had scheduled a couple of hours, had finished but after an hour. The best was the MuseumsCafé and the waffles, which there was there. But in a modern setting. And to do this, we would have to pay no admission. If you have the opportunity, you look at the open air museum in Oslo. This has much authentic. Or with the old boat replicas Sunnmoere Museum in Ålesund, Norway.

Great place to see the old town of Trondheim. The birds eye view point is breathtaking.

A very nice museum with lots of things to see. Note that most of the items are outdoors, so you'd probably want to go on a day with nice weather. Also many of the objects aren't that well marked themselves, so bringing one of those information booklets is a good idea. You get an awesome view of the city and the surrounding area, but it's a lot of uphill walking to get there if you don't take the bus.

Great place to go if you want to experience how the old locale culture was. Also have a lot of activities animals and displays. You can almost spend a whole day here just walking around.

Where to stay in Trondheim

One of Norway’s major cities, Trondheim offers a wide range of accommodations. As with any Norwegian city, it’s easy to find the high-end hotels with big price tags in the city’s historical center. With a student population of roughly 25,000, the town also caters to more budget-conscious travelers with a fair number of options. Look for reasonably priced hostels near the university. If you’re not opposed to roughing it the way Norwegians love to, check out one of the many campsites in the city’s outskirts. You'll still have access to the city thanks to the local buses that run regularly.
