Nidarosdomen, Trondheim
(4.2/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Home of the grave of Norway's patron saint, Nidarosdomen stands as one of the country's most important religious sites and one of the largest medieval buildings in Scandinavia. Original construction started in 1070 over the resting place of Saint Olaf, and the church took on elements of both Gothic and Romanesque architecture over the centuries. Stop by the sizable cathedral to admire its dual bell towers and intricate facade, replete with arches, windows, and pillars. Explore the vaulted interior and its large stained-glass window section. Don't miss the crypt, which contains a multitude of medieval-era headstones found within the church. Plan your visit to Nidarosdomen and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Trondheim travel itinerary maker.

  • Go see the Nidarosdomen Cathedral at night time, its a fantastic sight! If you are lucky you'll be able to enjoy the West front wall all by yourself.
  • A dream of a church! Also the organ meditation is very worthwhile to visit in order to hear the sound of the organ.

  • Highly recommend everyone to take a turn here. You can either take a guided tour or wander on your own. In the summer it is also possible to go up in the tower.

  • Light and open cafè with stunning views over the cathedral.
  • Very helpful staff and interesting things to buy
  • After admiring the intricate outside of the church, pay the admission to enter and climb to the top. If you can stomach the steep & claustrophobic climb, you'll be greeted with 360' Trondheim views
  • Przepiekna gotycka katedra
  • A nice store but very expensive.
