Where to stay in Tromso

Tromso is a major tourist destination in northern Norway and offers a range of accommodations. In the city center, take your pick from numerous hotels at varying prices and within walking distance to restaurants, nightlife, and tourist attractions. If you've come for the city's main attraction, the northern lights, check out a number of offbeat accommodations that bring you closer to nature. Consider staying in a cabin or fishermen’s cottage near the city, with a fjord or the sea as your backdrop. Alternatively, experience the local culture by renting a room from a family.

  • A friend of mine pointed me to this place. Great choice. The place is peculiar and cozy. You may be lucky and see reindeer outside the patio.  more »
  • We passed through Hill soil on the way to Sommaroy. The glass workshop and cafe are absolutely lovely, friendly staff and kept very nicely with conservatory and outdoor seating offering great views. We went on a beautiful summers day and could've sat here all day long.

  • We were driving towards Sommarøy and I'd read good reviews so we planned to stop off. They were not serving food that day but we spent the best part of an hour choosing gifts. The owner makes here own pieces but she also stocks the work of other designers. She was happy to take us downstairs and show us here works in progress which was fascinating. In visited other glass shops in Tromsø, but this was by far the best. I was sorry to read the previous review that said they would be closing the business to retire but glad to have my own souvenir of her work.
