One of the oldest churches in stave churches in Norway. Mysterious sculptures was designed for grass like animals like deer in the Church wall planks and logs into a snake bite, the vine it is decorated. In very old church entrance door key.... this time. • We found the designation of this church on the site to Visit Norway and we did not miss the opportunity to visit it. A magical place not to be missed in terms of uniqueness. The town of Ornes there is a small ferry that leaves from the small village of Solvorn, and 20 minutes you reach the other side, better to leave your car in Solvorn although then the climb to the Church is a bit tiring but still all on paved road to nowhere. You pay the ticket for visiting that then is guided in our case by a passionate girl very prepared and that explains a little about the history, construction and architecture of the Church. Really good, all in English.

  • A incredible place! I wasn't so impressed of the church but the surrounding is breathtaking. I really recommend you to go to this place!
  • A must see for everyone who loves history. The stave church is very well preserved. The main attraction are the Viking carvings from 11th century - these are incredible. We had a very good guide that explained everything and enjoyed our visit very much.
  • This is the church with the sign of my marriage. A wonderful atmosphere and very magic location! MUST SEE for ANY mystic interest!
  • One of the most beautiful stave churches. Extraordinary wooden carvings. Quiet rural area, great view over the Lustra fjord.
  • A lovely old church in a beautiful location, all brought to life by a knowledgeable guide.
