Sognefjorden, Sogn og Fjordane

(200+ reviews on the web)
Geologic Formation
Cruise into the narrower arms of Sognefjorden for sublime vistas of untouched nature and a dramatic landscape featuring abrupt cliffs and gushing waterfalls. Stretching 205 km (127 mi) inland from the ocean, this is the largest fjord in Norway and the longest ice-free fjord in the world. The innermost fjord's arm, Lusterfjord, is notable for its stave churches and the green-colored water that comes from melting glaciers. Grab a seat on a deck of a boat as the hamlets, farms, and orchards glide past, all against a backdrop of shoreline and towering mountains. Boat trips are expensive, so consider bringing your own food and drinks. For Sognefjorden and beyond, use our Vik Municipality holiday planner to get the most from your Vik Municipality vacation.

  • Traveling from Oslo to Bergen the spectacle of nature takes place between mountains, lakes and dense forests of conifers following the Sognefjorden, climb up to 1,000 meters above sea level, meeting small villages, through a beautiful landscape dotted with lakes and mountain huts. The falls along the flanks of the mountains that flow into the fjord always are numerous.

  • along with the geiranger fjord and hardanger is one of the most beautiful, very different from previous ones because it is very large and the cliffs are lower, but still beautiful. I looked at the typical njjse, small fochette that accompany the ferries.
