  • This is another great and fascinating examples of the Stave Churches in Norway. It is located in an amazing scenario and it is 'a must' to be visited in the area. Don't miss it!  more »
  • The Stave Church in Vik is a fine example of the stave churches in Norway constructed in the early 11th century. We hesitated about visiting churches farther away from Bergen that are more famous but ...  more »

  • Amazing piece of architecture. I hope to return in a season when I can go inside. Such a lovely little valley around it, too.
  • An easy 15 minutes by boat from Balestrand and then a lovely walk to the church. The guide shared interesting historic & architectural facts with us....and as Rick Steves suggested we lied down on the floor and took sensational photos of the wooden arches and ceiling. It did feel as though we werr protected by an over turned wooden ship. This Is maybe the only stave church I will see on this trip....and visiting this one built around the year 1000 was well worth the time spent getting here. 5 stars from me....simple and easy...and fascinating .
  • Nice and calm place with nice view
  • Excellent!
  • Very well preserved Norway's oldest stave church. Definitely worth a visit!
