Glimpse into the life of the founder of modern drama at The Ibsen Museum. Henrik Ibsen, one of the most performed playwrights in the world, lived here in the last 11 years of his life. Opened in 2006 on the 100th year anniversary of his death, the museum recreates the interior of the writer's final home with a mix of original furniture and replicas. Gain further insight through educational films. The museum on the ground floor contains artifacts and personal items, including Ibsen's hat collection. Upstairs, guided 30-minute tours of the apartment are offered in groups of 15. Lockers are available, and a small gift shop offers books for purchase. • In guided tours, a tour inside the apartment. While Ibsen lived, and how at that time. Oslo pass you can use.

  • Also got a guiding down main street with the famous quotes. Nice to see the story and the tour. Was lucky that made the trip down main street as well.

  • Not very well designed. The exhibition lacks continuity and clarity while the content is quite simplified. The content of the tour was simplified to a banal degree. Leaves a slightly one dimensional impression of what was a complex man.
  • A small but complete overview of Ibsen's life, particularly his final years, when he lived in a generously-sized apartment at this location. If you're not familiar with his work, you can learn a lot here. It would be better to get at least an overview before going. That would contribute to your engagement. The museum seems newish and growing. They're trying to restore his apartment to its appearance during his time there. The tour--the only way to get in to the apartment--will definitely give you insight into the man. (Free with Oslo Pass)
  • One of the most beautiful places I've visited. Ibsen's apartment is stunning!
  • Nice museum. Was a successful school field trip to go here.
