She Lies, Oslo

(2.7/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web)
Admire the public sculpture of She Lies while visiting the harbor in Oslo. Created by Italian artist Monica Bonvinci in 2007, the figure sits on a floating platform in the fjord, several feet above the surface. As a recreation of the painting "Sea of Ice," the sculpture captures the look and feel of a jagged iceberg sitting in the fjord. When viewing the sculpture, you'll notice the water reflecting off the sculpture's glass panels. Get the best views of the landmark from the roof of the opera house. It's impressive any time of day, but sunset here yields the best photo ops. Plan your She Lies visit and explore what else you can see and do in Oslo using our Oslo vacation planner.

  • • What is there to see the monument. • During Visit to the opera house. • Placement In water at the norwegian ballet and opera house. • Quality of the things to see Svendo visited Oslo in winter (toward the last of February), this work has linked well with the context, as the water was ice cold: I don't know what it would do in the summer. The sculpture was made by Monica Bonvicini and it is like a three-dimensional interpretation of Friedrich's painting "the sea of ice". The work visually resembles the shape of an iceberg, and is a symbol of global warming.

  • It's a surprising sculpture made of stainless steel and glass panels. The sculpture turns on its axis with wind.  more »
