Admire the public sculpture of She Lies while visiting the harbor in Oslo. Created by Italian artist Monica Bonvinci in 2007, the figure sits on a floating platform in the fjord, several feet above the surface. As a recreation of the painting "Sea of Ice," the sculpture captures the look and feel of a jagged iceberg sitting in the fjord. When viewing the sculpture, you'll notice the water reflecting off the sculpture's glass panels. Get the best views of the landmark from the roof of the opera house. It's impressive any time of day, but sunset here yields the best photo ops. Plan your She Lies visit and explore what else you can see and do in Oslo using our Oslo vacation planner.

  • The sculpture was supposed to follow the tide and wind movements. It should also change for changing light conditions. Whether one likes the is a matter of taste, but it fits for the Opera.

  • Sculpture "emerging" of water as an amorphous structure, an iceberg made up of steel and glass. Personally I did not like, since I coudn't definite form any, I repeat is a conglomerate of materials placed on a concrete base, on water and on the front to the Opera and "Barcode Buildings". Now well, not there is information some of which its creator to dear represent or commemorate, what contributes to subtract you interest. Enjoy "She Lies". LIFE... it's a trip!
