Where to stay in Oslo

A majority of Oslo's hotels and smaller accommodations cluster along Karl Johans Gate, the city's main drag connecting many of its downtown attractions. If you want something a bit more colorful than the average hotel, consider one of the many bed and breakfasts that have been cropping up in recent years. To escape the crowded streets, but still be walking distance from major sights, stay in the Frogner or Majorstuen neighborhoods near the royal palace. As you can probably guess, lodging is quite expensive in this European capital.

  • not that much vertical, but accessible by tram! (very nice tram ride too!) make sure to have the waffles! There are more than one restaurants/eateries up top too.
  • This is a great place for beginners as well as more advanced. The hire system is quite well thought out and has everything you need. Good runs with heaps of snow, less than an hour by train from Oslo Central (all withing zone 1 so it's super cheap).
  • Great small ski resort in the city. Easy access, slopes for everyone and a bit of Norwegian Olympic history from 1952 at the Wyller slope. Please remember that the parking space gets crowded in the weekends before 11 o'clock and it is unfortunately probable that you will get a fine is you are parking incorrectly.
  • The best place to go downhill skiing in Oslo. The seasonal tickets are a must buy or regular visitors. The day tickets are somewhat expensive. Has something for the beginner to the expert skier. Accessible by public transport and is open upto 10 in the evenings during weekdays which is a big positive.
  • Great skiing in Oslo. Usually very good conditions the entire winter
