  • Nice art pieces, was positively surprised. More expensive and less rich than in France or Italy but for me it was worth of visit absolutely. There are more to Norway than just Munch..  more »

  • Genuinely loved it! Very beautifully designed customer orientation, different colour theme of the room represent different art style and the historical line of Norwegian art development, and have general text introductions on the wall of every theme. Follow the room numbers can guide you easily go through all of the art pieces there and back to the start point where you never lose yourself. Plus super nice staff and free lockers for extra luggage. A must-see attraction in Oslo!
  • Had a really great time walking around the gallery. Lots of great works to see. They have a room with about 12-15 of Munch's works. Easy to walk the whole gallery in about 3 hours. Recommend paying for the audio tour as it has some great info about some of the works. I wish they would add a few more audio captions to the list. Recommend adding the National Gallery to your list of stops if you are in Oslo for a few days.
  • Dove in here to get out of the rain, actually quite a pleasant place with the themed walk through, assisted by numbers and colour coding rooms. Some really impressive works, contextualised by the explanation of the progression time and influences of society and other artists. The Scream is different in real life, pictures just can't convey how many Asian tourists taking pictures of themselves posing in front of it that the real thing has.
  • For once, a gallery that is easy to navigate. The highlight is of course the Munch room but there are paintings of Cezanne, Matisse, Modigliani and even Picasso. A must see in Oslo
  • Very good museum indeed. Must see even if only for Munch, but there are other interesting pieces, such as Dahl's
