  • The Ekebergparken park is, as the official site says: ''Sculpture and national heritage park with a strong international art collection surrounded by beautiful scenery with many spectacular lookouts.'' The park is open 24/7 and the entrance is free. It has multimedia showcases also so pay close attention to your surroundings. One of the best ways to have panoramic view of the town. The park is walkable within 1.5 hours. Sculptures and trails are interesting and well maintained. Inside the park you'll see a big kamping area as well as some large areas for piknik. Overall, lovely place to go for a run, hike or just to be in the nature overlooking the city.
  • While it's a great place for a walk in the forest, it lacks a couple more statues or attractions if you ask me. It's basically paths in the forest, and every kilometer or so there's a minor attraction. The anatomy of an angel is indeed worth seeing, but if you are planning on seeing primarily figures, I'd recommend going to Vigelandspark instead. However, the view over the city of Oslo is a sight to behold. There is a restaurant at the entrance as well as playgrounds for kids. Dogs are allowed.
  • This is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Oslo. There are several viewpoints with an amazing view of the city, the forest is dotted with art installations, information boards and sculptures (mostly of females). You can also visit the place which gave the inspiration for Edvard Munch's famous "Scream". There's a big fancy restaurant, a small cozy restaurant and a cafe. There's also a dog park here, where your dog can run free and play with others. Absolutely one of my favourite places in Oslo. A must for anyone visiting the city.
  • Prefer this to Vigeland Park A well designed park, I like the fact that the art are placed in the midst of nature, not a manufactured park like some. And contemporary art just go so well with nature. Pop a tip here which I did not see anywhere else, the James Turrell installation is only open Sunday, so don’t miss it.
  • This park is a great place to visit and enjoy the great scenery views of the city and surrounding countryside.

Where to stay in Oslo

A majority of Oslo's hotels and smaller accommodations cluster along Karl Johans Gate, the city's main drag connecting many of its downtown attractions. If you want something a bit more colorful than the average hotel, consider one of the many bed and breakfasts that have been cropping up in recent years. To escape the crowded streets, but still be walking distance from major sights, stay in the Frogner or Majorstuen neighborhoods near the royal palace. As you can probably guess, lodging is quite expensive in this European capital.
