Where to stay in Oslo

A majority of Oslo's hotels and smaller accommodations cluster along Karl Johans Gate, the city's main drag connecting many of its downtown attractions. If you want something a bit more colorful than the average hotel, consider one of the many bed and breakfasts that have been cropping up in recent years. To escape the crowded streets, but still be walking distance from major sights, stay in the Frogner or Majorstuen neighborhoods near the royal palace. As you can probably guess, lodging is quite expensive in this European capital.

  • This is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Oslo. There are several viewpoints with an amazing view of the city, the forest is dotted with art installations, information boards and sculptures (mostly of females). You can also visit the place which gave the inspiration for Edvard Munch's famous "Scream". There's a big fancy restaurant, a small cozy restaurant and a cafe. There's also a dog park here, where your dog can run free and play with others. Absolutely one of my favourite places in Oslo. A must for anyone visiting the city.
  • Unique place. Enjoy artworks presented in a gorgeous, natural set above the fjord. At sunset, the place is truly magic.
  • Wonderful sculpture park. Nice walk in the woods in a straight forward circuit through old cemeteries and shipbuilding sites raised up from sea level after the last ice age. A bit steep on the way up, but nice roads suitable for strollers etc.
  • Idyllic and calm park with nice sculptures and viewpoints overlooking Oslo.
  • I think it's probably the best park in the city... Calm.. Great views.. Nice sculptures.. Beautiful.. Not to crowded... With very big sports fields... Good public transports connections.
