Bygdøy, Oslo
(4.8/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Jutting out into the bay, maintains a distinctly rural character while including a number of the city's museums and recreational spaces. Board a boat or bus to make your way from the central part of the city to the residential area, and go for a stroll along one of the beaches. Or rent a bicycle to take advantage of the network of surrounding pathways and trails through the parks. The museum district offers a taste of the region's history and information on some of Norway's most famous figures. You can also get a look at the residence that still serves as the summer home for the country's royal family. Work out when and for how long to visit Bygdøy and other Oslo attractions using our handy Oslo vacation trip planner.

  • I walked most of the Bygdoy peninsula with my wife, father in law and friend. A really large area with lots to see. Be prepared to do a lot of walking if you are going to take a stroll as it's quite a...  more »
  • It is worth to go there by boat from Aker Brygge. Same goes is only a foretaste of the tours. After 10 minutes we are in place and we can choose what we want to do ... or visiting museums which is at this point a few and it's worth it to see them, or visiting one of the most expensive districts in Oslo, or picnic on the banks of the fjord, the choice is yours.

  • Group tour with the Association. Tour with a guide. All were activated. Easily accessible from the City Hall by bus. Café. Front desk. Some retail outlets. Important storytelling.

  • Our favourite local cafe. The superfriendly Iranian couple that runs the joint always welcomes you with a smile and the other employees are equally freindly. Good small dishes and paistry and coffee on par with the best of the Oslo scene (which supposedly is top notch worldwide). Can be a bit crowded on sundays but there's a reason for it :-)
