Aker Brygge, Oslo

Shopping Mall Shopping
Stretching along one of the arms of the Oslo Fjord in the location of a former shipyard, Aker Brygge creates a melting pot where business people, artists, musicians, and celebrities meet and mingle. Several workshop halls of the 19th-century shipyard have been turned into shopping areas with restaurants, art galleries, and a cinema, creating a city-within-a-city. Shop, have a drink, or taste some fresh seafood at the restaurants on the boats by the dock. A walk along the waterfront, with its mixture of old buildings and modern architecture, gives a general view into the history of Norwegian shipbuilding. Visit one of the small harbors, hop on a boat, and take a ride to one of the nearby islands. The area hosts several festivals. • Lovely modern area packed with bars and restaurants. Similar to some areas of the docklands in London, repurposing old brick buildings for upscale condos, flats and restaurants. Ends with the interesting modern arts museum, in itself a good piece of modern architecture, at least in my lay understanding of it.
  • Nice modern area. Good shopping opportunities. Plenty of food, drink and entertainment. Modern art around the area. Nice on a summers day to enjoy the harbour!
  • Must to go when in Oslo. Fancy shops, nice cafes and restaurant on the pier. Crowded in sunny summer days.
  • If you are looking for more high end clothes, Aker Brygge is the place to be. Here you can find shopping, restaurants, ocean view and museums.
  • Best neighbourhood to live in. Live here for 3 years and Iove the vibe.
