Aker Brygge, Oslo

Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web
Stretching along one of the arms of the Oslo Fjord in the location of a former shipyard, Aker Brygge creates a melting pot where business people, artists, musicians, and celebrities meet and mingle. Several workshop halls of the 19th-century shipyard have been turned into shopping areas with restaurants, art galleries, and a cinema, creating a city-within-a-city. Shop, have a drink, or taste some fresh seafood at the restaurants on the boats by the dock. A walk along the waterfront, with its mixture of old buildings and modern architecture, gives a general view into the history of Norwegian shipbuilding. Visit one of the small harbors, hop on a boat, and take a ride to one of the nearby islands. The area hosts several festivals. • A lovely place to hang out! There is a decent variety of bars and restaurants and the whole place is tastefully done. It's worth looking out for the public art on display (Amish Kapoor, Anthony Gormley etc) donated by the Astrup Fearnley museum.
  • FANCY STORES. expensive beer at outside side walk cafes. But a must see when in Oslo.
  • Walk along Aker Brygge pier to feel a part of the ocean in class. Take a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in one shops while still viewing the water, most places have heated outdoor patios. You can easily walk from "National Theater" metro/train station.
