  • During our discovery tour of scenic Gaupne and Luster, etc., we had received tips from the local tourist office to visit this very old church, which was built on an earlier stave church. The "new" Church was built in Gaupne 1907, and is incredibly beautiful, but at the same time very simple wooden church. One gets a sense of respect and solemnity in the wall decorated Church room. The cemetery around provides a framework of history. Hit a nice guide that explained to us the details and interesting stories. Highly recommended! d:o)

  • Gaupne old church was open to the public when I was there. I was welcomed by a guide. I asked if I would have a guide. I would not. Thus was the experience even stronger. Both the sight and the smell of very old wood made strong impression. One was nearly placed to another time. An experience that should be experienced.

  • I had a chance to visit with a local guide. The building dates back to 1647 and is entirely made of wood. Inside is quite dark. Outside a small cemetery.
