  • The Pasvik National Park is the western foothills of the taiga. The originality of the Park is impressive and very much recommended for extensive outdoor adventures such as hiking. During the visit, the Park show in autumn coloring. We are at this time which were only which in the Park. Also at this time is to be expected with a variety of mosquitoes. The arrival to the National Park above the 885 is a borderline experience, the road is paved but in a catastrophic state. The ride leads to the entry level car parks for the hikes via paved forest roads with deep potholes and bumps. For the drive there was an SUV available, any normal car would have used up several times.

  • The trip in the middle of nowhere is well worth if you have time to spend has Kirkenes et if the weather plays the game. Half way, there is the very modern centre visitors with an interesting exhibition. Totally unexpected in this backwater. More continuing to the South, not worth going up to Nyrud - what a police station / border control - except if want to do another 20 km on a forest road and then 5 km walk to the point of Finland - Norway - Russia border. We have rather chosen to take a little more to the North the forest road (good enough) for 9 km to the parking of the national park for a walk. Beautiful nature. But it's a roundtrip because the path that starts from the car park is a long hike (until Finland) end of August, he remained almost more mosquitoes! It seems that during the summer it's hellish.
