#4 of 10 in Outdoors in Geiranger
Follow the guardrails and walk behind the scenic waterfall of Storseterfossen. The goat path is well-secured and you'll get to experience the rushing waters pouring down in front of you. While the path is relatively steep and extends over stone slabs, it's usually a simple walk for people of all ages. Find views of historic huts near the falls and check out goats taking in the sun. The most popular path takes about one hour from Geiranger. Plan to visit Storseterfossen during your Geiranger vacation using our convenient Geiranger day trip planning site .

  • We were one of the most famous fjords of Norway in the Geirangerfjord, and have connected you there, an organized hike to the "Storsæter waterfall". The Storseterfossen is a 30 m-high waterfall in the mountains above Geiranger. We were taken to the start of the walk, below with the bus to the starting point, by the remarkable "Berghof of Westerås". From there, it went up about 1 hour on a steep and uneven trail (2 km and 250 meters), with partially slippery surface and large rock slabs, to the waterfall. If you're lucky, there are also interesting encounters with mountain goats, which grew accustomed now to the many hikers on this way. Arrived up there, exepct a truly fantastic nature spectacle, with a spectacular view of the Geirangerfjord. To the waterfall itself is down now still some steps, where you then close can feel the force of the water falls. The path behind the 30 m high waterfall is secured with chains. Sometimes one has to bend down and bit by bit it is slightly wet. It is quite intriguing and impressive to stand directly behind a waterfall and see the water masses very close before a pass rushing, just a great experience. On the way back is worth the stop in the the mountain farm of Westerås, where there are not only delicious waffles. We hereby recommend this hike in the midst of unspoilt nature to 100% and have never regretted. A a fantastic spectacle of nature which will always remain in our memory.

  • During our stay in Geiranger decided to take advantage of one of the morning to make a hiking route in the surrounding area. Right next to the cabins where we slept were output to different paths. We decided to take that took US to this beautiful waterfall, which was hidden at the top of the fjord and that allows you to get close to his birth through a way that goes beneath the. Reach the waterfall is a path only rise quite nice and the waterfall, but it is not the most impressive I have seen, well worth. Also it is possible to climb up and down two different paths, to give it some originality to the route.

  • We went for a great walk using the green route. What a nice walk, but be aware of the fact that it isn't a easy walk when you walk with an two year old. It's worth the walk though  more »

  • This is a truly spectacular place to visit. You are surrounded by mountains and can hike down to and behind a fairly large waterfall. If you are hiking from town, come prepared! It is quite the climb.
  • Fabulous walk and awesome waterfall. We left a tasty geocache for friends but they won't be able to get there. Consequently it's available to the first person to get it. Once above the waterfall, look below the info board on the track down behind the waterfall. Two small stones hide the treasure. Enjoy!
  • Great hiking route which ends behind a lovely waterfall!
  • Super place. Enter under the waterfall I was there a couple of times and I'll be back
