Flydalsjuvet, Geiranger

(4.8/5 based on 100 reviews on the web)
View overhanging rock against the background of snow-capped peaks and ships floating across the fjord at Flydalsjuvet, a spacious two-deck observation platform at Geirangerfjord. After a descent of 150 m (492 ft) down from a parking area, you will reach this timber platform with a visitor's information area. Here you can take a seat in a metal chair on the clifftop or get out your cameras, however, be careful with selfies and walking backwards. Put Flydalsjuvet at the forefront of your travel plans using our Geiranger tour planner.

  • If you get a chance, don't just go around by ferry, but go beyond the village Geiranger. A few km further on there are two very nice vantage points overlooking the fjord. One is that the Flydalsjuvet (heading Dalsnibba), the other is the Ornesvingen (continuing toward Eidsdal). We passed towards evening, when tourism was thankfully thin out, so we managed to get to the lookout with no coach or anything that would disturb her. Enveloped in the silence we enjoyed the view.

  • One of the best places to get an overall view of Geirangerfjord. Highly recommended. Overall I enjoyed this viewpoint more than the Ornesvingen viewpoint because of its more natural view.
  • Stunning views to Geiranger fjord. There are two terraces - when coming from Geiranger it is easy to miss the first one but you can also park on the upper one and walk down to the other terrace. Both places have great views to Flydalsjuvet and view to Geiranger fjord below. Onthe lower view points there are toilets.
  • One of the best view I have ever seen....perfect!
  • Great viewpoint for a wonderful view down to Geiranger. At this place, you can find the Fjordsetet installation and also the famous rock above the gorge. And toilets. ;-) Great spot, highly recommended. :)
  • Be sure to walk down the path to the "Queen's Chair". It's a comfortable place to sit and contemplate the view of Geiranger. Many tourists don't bother making the walk, so you'll likely be alone for a few minutes.
