Waterfall Nature / Park
Marvel at the long drop of Brekkefossen, a waterfall pouring from a hanging valley through a twisting gully. Though it can be viewed in full from the Flam railway, up close you can only take in about 115 m (377 ft) of the gorgeous waterfall's full 545.5 m (1,790 ft)--this perhaps accounts for its being generally overlooked. Wear sturdy shoes on the steep trek to the viewing point at the falls' base, where you will also be rewarded by beautiful sights of Flam, a nearby village. Take a walking stick if you need a little extra help to climb the trail. For Brekkefossen and beyond, use our Flam holiday planner to get the most from your Flam vacation.

  • it take 20 minutes to famous location where most photographed place. also, you can follow up higher trail course but it more sloping-harder(about 20min), only end to just small waterfall.
  • A good walk that gets the heart rate pumping! The views of Flåm were fantastic!
  • Great walk up from Flam with amazing views of the town and waterfall. Reasonably steep and pretty muddy if it's been raining so appropriate footwear is helpful. Well worth the climb.
  • Absolutely beautiful! Not an easy climb up, but totally worth it to see the waterfall up close and views over the whole town. Take lunch and have a picnic up there!
  • Great hiking destination. Saw rainbow at the top. Unforgettable.
