Voringsfossen, Eidfjord Municipality

4.6
#1 of 15 in Things to do in Eidfjord Municipality
At Voringsfossen, one of Norway's best-known waterfalls, view rushing water tumbling from a height of 182 m (597 ft). Find a spot to pull off Highway 7, the road that connects Oslo with Bergen, and follow the path that leads to the base of the waterfall. For a view from above, park outside the Fosslie Hotel (for a fee) and walk to the vantage point as you observe the deep canyon and forested mountains that surround the falls. You'll find multiple areas for hiking and picnicking nearby. Plan to see Voringsfossen and other attractions that appeal to you using our Eidfjord Municipality trip planner .

  • Luckily, we were in the morning before 10 o'clock there and had a clear view of the truly stunning waterfall. Then came busloads full of tourists and it was uncomfortable

  • I came here in pouring rain, and it had rained for days so the waterfall had an impressive force! You can view it from the top, or continue down the route along RV7 and there is a huge parking lot wit...  more »
  • To enjoy maximum from the waterfalls, you must reach the viewpoints near the Fossli Hotel, otherwise you miss the attraction. How to get here: When coming from the direction of Eidfjord, continue east...  more »

  • A great place to view two waterfalls. One on the right and one on the left. The path leads downwards until you can see the two waterfalls from across it. If you are feeling adventurous, Walk the small path to look down the edge. There is a souvenir shops there
  • Beautiful area with plenty of hikes! The following shots are better than words.. Recommended!
  • This massive waterfall outside of Eidfjord is not only stunning up close, but even from a considerable distance. From the viewpoint up above the fall, the true magnitude of the massive fall can be appreciated. Even way up above the falls, the power of the water is felt with mist spraying up. This incredibly long fall is one of the most viewed tourist destinations in Norway and is powered by all of the ice melting from the mountains above the fjords.
  • It's fine. You can either get a view of it from the top or hike to it from the bottom. The hike is a half hour each way (hour roundtrip). I went in mid October and all the leaves had already fallen and everything just looked kinda dead. I'm sure visiting another time of year is more breathtaking.
  • Beautiful expansive views from the roadside or at Fossli Hotel. We happened upon this during vacation in early July. Did not stay at the Fossli hotel but parking there is free as well as access to walk out to the viewing areas. Had I known more about this spot, I would have opted to stay in the hotel a night or two.
