  • The guide said it was still possible to see reindeer and musk oxen from the Observatory at the top of the mountain. Indeed, signs inform tourists on these animals from the parking lot. So we made our little walk walk (notice to those who have difficulty climbing this anyway...) and... nothing. Ah yes, a person informs on the animals in question with skins, horns and skulls... but not what we were looking for. Disappointed, even though the refuge is beautiful (a mixture of wood and metal that blends well into the landscape, with a fireplace to keep warm!). The view on Mount is pretty but the mountains leading to the refuge are "strange", peeled... hard to say if it's good or not. Matter of taste, no doubt. for the time of this attraction, hard to say, it depends on your physical condition to mount at the shelter and the time that you will spend at the top. Count at least 1 h 30...

  • The Viewpoint was "World Building Of The Year" in 2011, and then it all "took off". The number of visitors has increased to 30.000 pro year. Despise the short season from June to October! Since my fir...  more »
  • A very interesting place, which find it difficult to look elsewhere. The cosy vantage point fits the environment from which you can admire the amazing flora and fauna Dovre, including musk oxen. Not only for fans of "the saga of People Ice."

  • A stunning landscape with a very austere, modern lookout. We had seen pictures of the building and didn't realize this was the spot until we put on the 1.5km walk. The only detraction is so much evidence of man's activities on view out the panoramic glass wall of the hut.
  • Lovely view, worth it if you are in the area
  • Vantage point on the mountain Snøhetta. Take the exit at Hjerkinn to visit. Small drive still, about 15 mins. Then you can park your car at a big parking lot. Parking is free of cost. There is also a restroom, and some signs with info about the region, at the parking lot. From the parking lot you have to walk about 30 minutes to the Tverrfjellhytta (cabin) above the edge. Reasonable steep walk. On top there is the cabin Tverrfjellhytta which you can also enter. Inside you can stay warm and take time to wait. Tverrfjellhytta is a spotters spot where you have a great overview on the plain/tundra. You can wait to spot reindeer. Since it's a great vista, it is advised to bring binoculars. For photos is a telephoto lens is essential if you want to pick the animals up close, I think. We wait about 45 minutes but seen no animals. Since we had to travel further didn't had more time to wait and walked back to the car.
  • Spare, reflective building with curving wood benches-- perched, deserted, on a snowy hilltop around nothing else. Work the hike to stare and take a few photos.
  • Nice view.
