(380+ reviews on the web)
Scenic Walking Area Landmark
Saltstraumen represents a narrow strait with the strongest tidal current in the world, which makes it popular among divers and anglers. The current produces maelstroms and whirlpools up to 10 m (33 ft) in diameter and 5 m (16 ft) deep. Walk up to the bridge to see the foaming stream from above, or descend to the waterfront to view it up close. The water swarms with various species of fish like cod, halibut, and coalfish, the regional specialty. You can fish from the bridge, the shore, or a boat. • its worth it to make the 30 min drive over from Bodo, if and only if you can catch high tide. definitely walk up the bridge to catch it from above before heading down below.  more »

  • Who is in the area should take a little trip to the strongest tidal current in the world. You will observe here various vortex at high tide. Through our schedule, we came to the tide, but even then we were able to observe some strudel.
