  • Old kjerringøy trade is an iconic collection of buildings that are built up around a pier that has been a natural trading place and served as a stopping place for boats with merchant traffic of stockfish from Lofoten Islands that were going to Bergen. This trading was in its heyday of an important junction on the North-Norway coast, which naturally grew and was full of life and trade. The place has also become well known around because of the film adaptations of books as well as artists such as Hamsund has painted and drawn images from space. The place is nice! Guided tour of the Museum can be recommended both for big and small. It is a piece of Arctic history that one gets a glimpse of. well preserved and the Museum is probably one of the best preserved trading post which is in Norway.

  • A beautiful place to trot around, absorb the wealth that provided for the large timber constructed buildings. No surprise that this place frequent Norwegian films.
  • It was closed when we got there on Sunday. Fascinating buildings though, a real glimpse into an old fishing village. Well woth a wander around.
