Hardanger Fjord, Bergen
Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Known as the Orchard of Norway, Hardanger Fjord is the world's third-longest fjord, offering tourist routes along glaciers, waterfalls, and one of the largest mountain highlands in Europe. The fjord stretches 179 km (111 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean into the forested hills of the mainland. Cruise along the scenic villages nestled at the foot of the mountains, or go walking on a glacier. Adventure lovers can take a ride with a kayak on the Eidfjord--one of the fjord's arms. Other attractions include a fish farm, cider factory, and living history museum focused on the construction and preservation of boats. Also look out for the Barony in Rosendal, Scandinavia's tiniest "palace" renowned for its Renaissance garden. Use our Bergen vacation route planner to add Hardanger Fjord and other attractions to your Bergen vacation plans.

From the railing of the Koningsdam me one and a half hours to marvel at the scenery.show original
