Stegastein Lookout, Aurland Municipality
(4.7/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
At Stegastein Lookout, absorb expansive views of Aurlandsfjord. At 650 m (2,132 ft) above sea level, the lookout point stands perched above the one of the world's longest and deepest fjords. To get a true feeling of the height, stand on the glass-ended platform for the sensation of floating above the fjord. You'll be able to see into the clear blue water below, across to the entrance of Naerofjord, and out toward the mountains and villages along the fjord. You can rent a car to reach the top, or take a bus leaving from Flam or Aurland. Keep in mind that the road up is narrow and quite curvy. Note that it can get quite crowded during the day. • Must-do when in/around Flam! This was the highlight of our trip. The views of the Fjords from above them are unbeatable. Well worth a trip up there. We almost skipped it and so glad we didn't! You don...  more »
  • Stegastein is a wooden construction protruding straight out in the air. From the glass wall at the end of the walk, you can see Aurland 670 meters below, and the view of the Aurland fjord is stunning....  more »
  • Des here you will see stunning one of the fjords views most beautiful of all Norway, a good place to take photos, also could enjoy the architecture of the viewpoint itself. I recommend to visit it if you are traveling through the area.

  • Was mostly foggy, but the curved/drop-off feel of the viewing platform was interesting and fun. Bet it's a really nice view when the fog clears! :)
  • Great views of Aurlandsfjorden, with all the snow on the mountains. Best moment to go there is at the sunset.
  • Spectacular scenery from view point, it's absolutely beautiful. Use public transport (shutttle) from Flam Station, because road is very narrow, and you do not want miss any view from windows.
  • A fantastic lookout over the fjord! But there a a lot of people throughout the day, so you should choose the morning or evening hours if u want to be alone! When we arrived, there was just one toilet open :/ don't miss the lookout halfway to the top - there u'll have a view to Flam!
  • Incredible view and construction but can be quite busy when you arrive together with a big tourist bus.
