Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 80 reviews on the web
One of the 18 National Tourist Routes in Norway, Aurlandsfjellet National Tourist Route features a 47 km (29 mi) long stretch of mountain road that connects one fjord to the next. The road connects a variety of landscapes, and on it you will see everything from grassy meadows to rolling hillside to glacier peaks and snow-capped rocks. You'll encounter hillside villages, steep drops, and blue lakes along the route, and it's not uncommon to come across a herd of sheep at the road's edge, or a herd of cattle out for an afternoon stroll. The narrow, winding road is best travelled by car and has many pullout spots for taking photos. • "Snow road", with a length of 47 km, passes in the mountains, the highest point of 1306 metres above sea level. In winter it is closed, but you can see here in summer snow. The alternative is a tunnel in the mountain 24 km long. Recommend this unusual, sometimes very narrow road amidst the majestic mountains, waterfalls, mountain lakes, get a lot of unforgettable impressions! The road for those who love fresh air and adrenaline. On the road there are three equipped viewing area: Vedahaugane, Flotave, Stegastein.

  • Handsome road to køyra with the MC; nice party road and utfordrande with many svingar and zoom. Dårleg vegdekke!

  • With the introduction of operational 24 km-long Laèrdal tunnel snowy road transport has lost its importance and became one of the major tourist attractions in Norway. Steep serpentines, not fading even in summer snow, great views, plenty of opportunities for hiking make it compulsory to visit. Rush is not worth it, here it is quite possible to spend the whole day.
